Beauty Salons Treatments – An Introduction to Spray Tanning

Spray tanning is a form of sunless tanning (also called fake tanning, or UV-free tanning) which is spraying chemicals on to the body to produce an effect similar in appearance to a more traditional suntan. Professional spray tans applications are available at beauty salons and spas and are given either by a hand held spray or in the form of sunless or UV-Free spray booths.

An active ingredient called dihydroxyacetone (DHA) is sprayed onto the skin which reacts with the amino acids on the skins surface to produce a temporary color change. The DHA starts to react normally with about two hours of the tan being applied and can continue to produce the tan for up to twelve hours. This tan will usually last from 3 to 10 days.

There is a vast range of shades available so you can choose how dark you want your tan to be or you can start off light and go darker until you achieve the look you want.

It is a good idea to shower, wax or shave and exfoliate your skin before having a spray tan to prepare your skin ready for the tan.

The tanning solution is sprayed onto the skin, this will normally give the result of a smooth, even tan with no streaks or runs, which can be an all over tan if so desired.

Having a spray tan is a fantastic and safe way of achieving a tan where ever you live and what ever season of the year it is.
