PSP was basically created by Sony for the purpose of portability and gaming. However, they added more than that. So far, these are the features I have unveiled on my PSP.
1. PSP as a gaming console
Yes, this is the primary reason why PSP exists. I could play PSP games just about anywhere. When I travel, go to urban places, or just at home. I could play my favorite RPG games, or other strategic games. There are a number of types of games you could in a PSP. If you go through an internet and do a search of PSP games, it would return an extensive array of selection you can choose from. You could also enjoy playing games with others who have PSP. It offers gaming sharing or you could do a network battle. Not only does it boost your gaming skill but it also allows you to interact with other people through playing. PSP is also equip to support UMD disc which you could purchase at your any favorite computer store.
2. PSP as a movie player
There are a lot of portable devices which offers as a media or movie player. PSP is one of them. The wide screen takes advantage over iPod at the cost of its size. However, you need to convert avi files to mp4 format for it to be supported. In addition to that, you need to place the file in a specific folder for it to play. But once everything is in place, you could enjoy watching your favorite movie or TV series.
3. PSP as a music player
MP3 / MP4 players are very common. PSP is able to keep up with this. You could enjoy your favorite mp3s and other latest mp3. With its built in speaker, its sound effects is perfect enough to be heard. It also has a headphone slot you could use for your own comfort.
4. PSP as an internet browser
It's nice that some like this could be use to browse through the internet. With a WiFi capability, you could connect to the internet through infrastructure mode. I was able to use this type of feature but there is some draw backs. Its small screen size limits your view on a page. The way you input the site is not for beginners. But the main point is that you are able to check mail every now and then if you are in a hot zone.
With all this features, a PSP is a must have portable device. I'm happy that I'm able to have a PSP which is more than just a gaming console.
