If you want to go your own way and open a more personalized store, Etsy is becoming a great source for one of a kind, hand made items. There are some fantastic designers on there and you can create circles with them to meet other store owners and advertise your items.
Advertising is key! You can’t just open a store and hope you get traffic, make traffic! Tell friends and family, use sites like Twitter and Facebook to get the word out, and keep up with your orders for good customer service.
