New Jersey has never been my first choice for a vacation destination. Everyone makes jokes about it not being very clean and of course you have the infamous Jersey Shore TV show. So when my partner wanted to go to Long Beach Island which is a part of New Jersey I wasn’t exactly thrilled, but had I done some actual research on the place I would have known beforehand how great a place it is.
We stayed in a really great beach house in Beach Haven. The house was beautiful and it had an amazing view. Every morning we would sit out on the deck and drink our coffee and watch the sun come up. I know that seems a bit crazy to be up so early on vacation but it was well worth it. Long Beach Island is a nice place to have a relaxing vacation.
There are beautiful old Victorian homes and there is Barnegat lighthouse. I know that might sound a little boring to go and see a lighthouse but it was really cool. The lighthouse is located on the north end of Long Beach Island in the aptly named Barnegat Lighthouse State Park. I really enjoy walking; it relaxes me, but I live in a huge city so even though I do love to walk it is mostly down busy sidewalks and it doesn’t smell that great when you have big trucks driving around and don’t forget about garbage day when it’s nice and hot. The park had a lot of nice nature trails for walking and it was awesome to have a nice walk without all of the noise and un-pleasant smells that I normally have to endure.
My partner and I ate at some fantastic restaurants, which in my opinion eating great food is one of the most important things you can do on vacation. I don’t always remember everything I did on a certain vacation but I always remember if I had a really good meal and where I had it at.
I travel a lot and I have been to some pretty crazy places where anything can happen and to be honest Long Beach Island is not one of those places. I did love my vacation there for totally different reasons. It was relaxing and it was a home away from home kind of place. There is great boating and water sports and of course great beaches for reading a good book. It is a nice place to relax with your significant other and it is a great place to have a family reunion or vacation.
