Operation GIA

GOD IS ALIVE.

Growing up in a Christian family, I was always entitled to praying night and day. As a young girl, I used to go to school every weekday, eat and drink, go out, play with toys and watch television just like a normal kid. My life, at that time revolved around having hang outs with my friends, planning parties, getting the new iPhone, playing with my Barbie dolls and telling on my sisters when they annoyed me. Little did I know that God had a bigger plan for me.

At the age of 12, I lost my dad to prostate cancer. I never thought that death could come to someone so close to me. After all, long life and prosperity were a constant invocation at family devotions. But it happened and there was absolutely nothing I could have done to change it.

After my dad died, I developed thanatophobia, this is the fear of death. I realized at this time that death could come at any day and at any time so I had to be prepared. I became more pietistic. I started paying more attention to the readings and sermons in church. I stopped caring about the material things I life and gave reverence to the finer things in life.

Something about my change is I didn’t change alone. I aimed at carrying others with me. I began my journey. At the young age of 14, I started sharing my stories and for those that had doubt, I conquered their beliefs and brought them closer to God. A major thing that helped me draw people to God was my bus accident. My school bus tumbled while taking us back to school and I suffered a compound comminuted fracture on my humerus. Anyone else could have gotten injured but barely anyone else did.

I was the worst and only hit but instead of reducing my faith, it increased my faith. God was testing me. A man had been reported to have died that exact same spot that same week. I considered the fact that I could have died, I could have broken my bones, I could have suffered permanent body injuries but I did not. My life was a testimony and it still is. I realised that I had been given so many reasons to thank God looking at my past accidents or injuries as blessings in disguise.

That story alone made my friends that had never seen or even heard about God to start believing in God. Then I embarked on Operation GIA. Operation GIA entails letting people know that there is a God in heaven. He’s not dead. He is alive. Part of this operation is the book I plan to publish at the end of 2018 titled “Finding God”. Part of the operation is this article. For all I know, you are now aware that there is a living God. My operation is complete.
