Fire Resistant Nomex Flight Jackets Are The Real Deal

[ad_1]

When it comes to military tactical gear and articles of clothing that has been worn by the military over the years, there have been many imitations. Some of these imitations are pretty good. There are also a ton of cheap knock-offs on the market as well. When it comes to quality and longevity of product, nothing beats the real deal.

Flight Jackets Have To Be Tough

One of the most common articles of military clothing that have been imitated over the years is the flight jacket. This may have been an easy task for the earliest of military issue clothing but it has become much more difficult over the years as our military supplies only the safest and well made clothing for our nation’s finest. This is especially true for flight jackets. The flight jacket has to be especially tough to help protect the pilot should his plane go down.

Fake Or For Real

Before the 1960s, leather and other materials were used to make flight jackets. Even back then, to wear a flight jacket was an honor and a privilege that was earned by only a few. There were a great many cheap imitations of the flight jacket that made it difficult to distinguish between the real deal and the fake. That is no longer the case.

Fire Resistant nomex

Today, a leather flight jacket may look cool, but it is far from being a genuine article. In the early 1960s, DuPont came out with a fire resistant material called Nomex. This material is closely related to Nylon; however, Nomex has what they call an aromatic backbone. Aromaticity denotes an amazing chemical process in which a conjugated ring of unsaturated bonds, and empty orbital’s, or lone pairs, exhibits a strength that is surprising for a chemical compound. Basically, it is incredibly strong and crazily fire resistant.

Saving Lives

This is the reason that the military flight jacket will never truly be replicated by a cheap knock off. Nomex can be spotted at a glance as it really looks like no other fabric around. This chemical fabric was needed to protect pilots in the early 1960s as the planes back then tended to catch fire when hit and burn all the way to the ground, giving the pilot very little chance of surviving long enough to eject himself from the cockpit. The Nomex flight jacket could not have been more successful if it had sprouted wings and shot.50 caliber machine guns from both armpits. More pilots were walking away from downed aircraft than ever before.

The Proud American Hunter

These jackets are very comfortable and ideal for the hunter who loves to get out there in the middle of winter and tough it out when the game is not readily available. In fact, most American hunters prefer military gear for its durability, its camouflage, and their incredibly cool looks. Hunters, for the most part are very patriotic men and women who put food on the table the old-fashioned way, they hunt for it.

Support Our Troops

Many hunters are very proud to show support for the men and women who serve our country and are proud to wear the same type of gear as they wear. They feel that it is an honor and a privilege to live in a country that allows them to show their support in such a manner. The fire resistant and very stylish Nomex Flight Jacket is perfect for showing respect, and for its long life and toughness. If it is made in America, it means something special.
