Tree Roots In Your Back Garden and Installing Artificial Grass Can Be Challenging But Possible Too

In the UK we are extremely lucky to be surrounded by so much greenery, especially trees and having a tree at home is common as they work as a main feature of a garden or even hidden away in the corner to offer shade, regardless of where it is in the garden a large tree, with its glowing leaves is thing of beauty. Trees provide a place to play for children and they are appreciated by adults but there is one downside that comes with trees and that is their roots because they can be problematic.

Trees are grand and majestic but it’s what they hide underground that causes problems. As soon as the roots begin to appear at the surface they can cause all kinds of damage and they can kill grass extremely quickly, they can turn stunning gardens into ugly gardens almost overnight.

In an attempt to deal with the problem many people attempt to grow or lay turf over the roots but this is almost impossible. Some opt to completely remove the tree but a problem can be solved through using artificial grass to high the roots.

It is possible for artificial grass to be placed over the roots without causing harm whilst the roots are unlikely to cause any problems to the artificial grass. There are other options available such as using mulch but in a relatively short time this will disappear. Artificial grass can be laid up to the trunk of the tree with no concerns about wear and tear which means there will be no dying grass around the tree.

Whilst the main aim is to hide the roots, artificial grass will also slow down the growth of weeds. It is almost impossible to get rid of any kinds of weeds but because the faux turf has a tough backing, weeds cannot bed into the soil which makes it difficult for them to grow.

Just like all plants, trees need water and warmth to grow, therefore, because the fake grass works by insulating the roots it keeps them warm through the tough winter months but this is not ideal for those trees that are used to the British winters whilst also helping the soil to retain moisture.

Artificial grass maintenance is requires but very little and it remains looking good all year round. What this means is that the grass does not take any nutrients or water away from any other trees or plants in the surrounding areas. However, it may be worth noting that although there is no need to water the artificial grass the roots of the tree will need watering so it is important to make sure that your choice of artificial grass is as permeable as possible.

So it is possible to install a stunning synthetic lawn without having to compromise on the plants that are around it because whilst it compliments a tree with the way it looks it can also help to look after it in a number of ways, but let’s not forget that it also helps to hide ugly roots that could cause problems!
