Bracelets and Rings – Still Everyone's Favorite Jewelry

[ad_1]

There are many types of jewelry being created today. These pieces can mean anything to the wearer from being a token of one's love for a partner to being a sign of one's faith. Yet even if there are many things that jewelry shops can create from these metals or stones, rings and bracelets are still the most popular of all.

A ring is a type of jewelry that is worn by both men and women on the finger. They can be made of different types of materials, such as metal, plastic, wood, gold, silver, glass and gemstones. Rings are sometimes decorated with either precious diamonds or other less expensive precious stones such as ruby, sapphire and emerald. But in general, a ring can be made of anything.

Rings exist in various forms, shapes, sizes and styles today. Flat wedding bands are, by far, the simplest form of rings that can be made. They basically consist of a small strip of metal that is bent into a loop with the ends joined together. The half-round rings or D-shaped rings are flat wedding rings that are polished on the outside to create a half-round form. Solitaire rings are rings that have large stones at the center.

A sleeve ring consists of a thin inner ring, with other rings placed on top of it to form one solid ring. The unique trilogy or trinity rings are made by wearing three rings at one time. Another type of ring is called the Eternity ring which is decorated with stones, usually diamonds of the same cut and size and set in one row all over the ring. But when the stones do not cover the ring and stop halfway around the finger, it is called a half-entry ring.

A bracelet is a type of jewelry which is worn around a person's wrist. Some bracelets are made of leather, cloth, hemp, plastic or metal. Bracelets are not just for fashion purposes though. Do you know that they are used for medical and identification purposes? Examples are allergy bracelets and hospital patient-identification tags. The term "bracelet" actually comes from the Latin word "brachile" which means "of the arm" from the Old French "barcel". There are several types of bracelets available today, including sports, charm, slap, beaded, link, and karma bracelets and, of course, bangles.
