[ad_1]

Metal detecting is a great hobby that gets you outside and exercise. What other hobby can you find lost treasure? It's not difficult to find enough coins, relics, rings and jewelry to pay for your hobby. So where do you start looking?

There are hundreds of places you can use your metal detector to empty lost items. The best places are areas where there is money exchanging hands or where there is a lot of activity. Here's a list of some really great places to find what others have lost.

Parks – There's nothing better than spreading out a blanket and having a picnic. When people sit or lay on the ground, money can easily spill out of their pocket. If they decide to sunbathe, they may even remove their jewelry and place it by their blanket.

Playgrounds – Kids always have money in their pockets. But when they play hard, it usually falls out along the way. Check near the play equipment. Jungle gyms produce especially good results with kids constantly hanging upside down.

Volleyball Pits – Volleyball is a very active sport. If the players kick valuables in their pockets at the beginning of the game, chances are it will not be there by the end. But most people will empty their pockets and remove jewelry before playing. So be sure to check the perimeter of the pit as well.

Sports Parks – Sports parks are great places for coin shooting. People love having junk food and a soda while watching a game. So there's always coins spilled on the ground. Check around the food vendor areas. If they charge admission, be sure to check near the gates. Of course the bleachers are a great place to search too. Do not overlook the smaller parks like little league fields, school multipurpose fields, and city soccer fields.

Swimming areas – Nobody brings valuables in the water. What if they lose it? So they'll usually place their valuables on their beach blanket or picnic area. Plus anyone sitting on the grass is more likely to lose change out of their pockets.

Ice Cream Vendors – Keep an eye on an ice cream vendor's route. They are creatures of habit and will often stop at the same location near parks and ball fields. People frantically digging for money to buy an ice-cream at these locations are bound to lose a bit of change.

Fairs, Carnivals & Circus – These are a coin shooters paradise. Thousands of people go to these events with money burning a hole in their pocket for junk food and trinkets. These events breeze into town, and a week later they're gone. It makes for easy and rich hunting when they leave.

Community Event Locations – Many communities have events in the park that draw hundreds if not thousands of visitors. This could include craft fairs, street parties, parades, outdoor concerts and theater in the parks. These events almost always have concessions.

Parking Areas – Overflow parking areas made of gravel or dirt are great places for coin shooting. Getting in and out of a car, packing picnic bags, and gathering gear could easily spill coins and jewelry into the parking lot.

Flea Market Grounds – Often these are held in dirt or gravel parking lots. Since flea market sellers sell a wide variety of stuff, finding unique items makes this a fun area to search. Who knows what you'd find. But you could easily find old coins, keys, and jewelry.

Roadside Vendors – Roadside produce stands and fireworks stands are a great place to check. Cash is always exchanging hands in these locations.

Hopefully these suggestions will spark a few ideas on your own treasure hunting adventures. But before you take out your metal detector, it is important to gain permission from the landowner before searching private property. If they say no, respect their wishes and move on. Also know your city and state laws regarding metal detecting on public property and parks.
