Today, there are literally thousands of audio books available for download. You can choose to listen to the latest bestseller, hear self-improvement books, listen to the latest magazines and newspapers, and just about any other subject matter you can think of. Many websites allow you to download an audiobook to your PC, then burn it to a CD and even transfer them to your iPod or favorite MP3 player and now the iPhone too. Also, you may not be aware that many of the audio books are narrated by the author. It is really nice being able to hear the voice of the actual author reading the book.

There are audiobook stores that will allow you to try out their service for a few days or so and will let you download a free audio book. If you like their service, they have affordable and flexible options so that you can download audiobooks every month or you can purchase audiobooks on an as-needed basis without a subscription. I have found audiobooks to be more affordable than the hardcover book and in many cases even cheaper than the soft cover book.
Renting audiobooks
There is a new service that allows you to rent an audio book. Sometimes you want to listen to a book but do not really want to own it. This is like having your own library without having to physically go to the library to check out a book. Your audiobook selections are shipped directly to you on CD and you simply return them after you have finished listening to it.
Listening to audiobooks is a very rewarding experience. Also, I find that listening to books makes it easier to comprehend the information. I especially like being able to pause and re-play chapters. Try an audio book and discover a new and exciting way to enjoy books.
