Recipes From Restaurants – Can You Make Them at Home?

Eating out at restaurants has been a national pastime for well over a century. However, with today’s economy, that national pastime is getting more and more difficult for families to budget. A typical family of four can expect to spend anywhere from $40-$60 at a fast-food to mid-scale restaurant. That price can go upwards from $60-$100 for a more upscale restaurant. According to experts, the average American family eats out 1-3 times per week. At prices such as these, eating out can put a serious dent in any family’s monthly budget.

People who eat out typically have a favorite entree or dessert from a particular restaurant. That is why they keep coming back. The restaurants are in business to earn a profit and repeat customers earn profits. But what most people don’t realize is that a lot of these recipes from restaurants have been copied or modified. Thus anyone easily can make their favorite restaurant recipe at home with ingredients that can be purchased from any grocery store…and for a heck of a lot cheaper than what you would pay in a restaurant.

Please keep in mind that most restaurants will never release their recipes. Why not? Because they don’t want their competitors stealing their recipes and their customers. Plus they want you to keep coming back to them to enjoy your favorite dish. Hence, restaurant recipes are usually developed through experimentation or sometimes they are even leaked by a former employee of the restaurant. Whatever the reason, anyone can bring the taste of their favorite restaurant right to their dining room table. And we’re not talking about take-out!

For example, being from Texas, I am an avid steak lover. Lone Star Steak House is one of my favorite restaurants and I am a big fan of their steak sauce. However, you can’t buy the sauce in stores and Lone Star is not going to let you walk out with a bottle. Below is a list of ingredients:

1/2 cup unsalted butter

2 tablespoons low-sodium Worcestershire sauce

3/4 teaspoon black pepper

2 drops Tabasco sauce

4 fluid ounces lemon juice

1 clove garlic, minced

1/2 teaspoon dry mustard

salt

broiler meat drippings, to taste (optional)

Simply combine all of the above ingredients in a saucepan and heat until the butter is completely melted. That’s it! Now fire up your grill and brush it on your steaks for that delicious Lone Star Steak House flavor without the Lone Star cost.

With a little ingenuity and creativity, anyone can have their favorite restaurant recipe without the restaurant cost.
