Wonder Words – A Fun Scripture Activity For Your Elementary Child

[ad_1]

"I wonder what our Sunday School teacher will teach us today!" This may be what your kids will say after doing this fun activity that will get them wondering about your topic for the day.

"Wonder Words" will require a little preparation, but will be well worth your time and effort. For this activity you will first need to decide what word or words best describes your topic for the day. Maybe you plan on doing a lesson about sin. The word "sin" would then become your "wonder word". Next, because the word "sin" is three letters long, you will need enough sand paper to cut out the letters "S", "I" and "N". I cut my letters about 5 "x 6". Now place each letter in its own brown paper lunch bags.

When your class begins you can say something like the following: "I wonder what our class is going to be learning about today. Wait for any guesses they may offer. Then hold up the paper lunch bags and say something like this: "Believe it or not, my bags tell exactly what we're going to learn about today.

Inside these bags are the letters used to spell the word that describes the topic we will be learning today. I am going to give some of you the chance to reach your hand inside a bag. You will have to guess what letter you think is inside the bag. If you guess correctly, you can take the letter out and then you get one chance at guessing our topic for the day. If you do not guess the correct letter, I will give someone else a chance to make a prediction. We will do this with each bag until someone has guessed the correct topic for the day. "

Obviously, it will be easier for your kids to figure out a shorter word than a longer word. You could also give a short two-word phrase such as "Jesus lives". For this phrase your would need a total of 10 paper bags.

This is a fun and quick activity to grab your children's attention to get your Sunday school hour off to a bang!
