How Chiropractic Care Works

Our nervous system controls ever cell, tissue and organ in our body. It is divided into two basic categories. The Central Nervous System (CNS) consisting of the brain and spinal cord and the Peripheral Nervous System (PNS) that includes the rest of the nerves that control our body. The (CNS) is protected by the skull and bony spinal vertebrae. The (CNS) is much more unilaterally to have external factors influence its function than the (PNS). The (PNS) exports off the spinal cord and supplies both muscles and organs. There are many more divisions of both the (CNS) and (PNS) that I will not get into for simplicity's sake.

Your brain of course is the most important part of your nervous system. Nerve impulses are first generated in the brain and then travel down your spinal cord and out the nerves to all parts of your body. It is here where the nerves exit the spinal cord that is of most interest to chiropractors.

Your spine is under constant strain during waking hours. Improper lifting techniques, poor posture, accidents, falls and bumps, or sometimes an inherited spinal weakness can displace a vertebra. Even a slight displacement may irritate nerve roots and blood vessels which branch off from the spinal cord between each of the vertebrae. This irritation may cause pain and dysfunction in muscle, lymphatic and organ tissue as well as dysfunction in the normal body processes.

Chiropractic care is designed to look for these minority spinal misalignment's and correct them. Correcting these subluxations helps clear out any disturbances and help your body function more efficiently and with less pain and discomfort.

Regular chiropractic care can restore the normal integrity of the spinal and nervous system and keep you healthy and functioning at peak efficiency in all of your bodily systems.
