I was surprised to find that Rydges Resort Darwin Airport has NO OFFICIAL star rating and has an unofficial Star Rating of 4 from online booking services. Rydges other hotels usually have an official Star Rating of 4. But as it is, they are not listed at this time.
My review of the Resort overall is that from arrival at the airport where we were met by the courtesy bus driver to reception where we were upgraded to an executive suite and daily servicing of the room was like the cleaners did an exit clean ever day. As such not only did they strip the linen, make the beds, the did full clean of the bathroom, kitchenette, lounge and vacuumed. They had 24 hour security which patroled the whole complex each and every night (I only realized after we left that the detention center was in walking distance from the resort) The whole facility was well managed, the pool and the pool area was used often as well as the gym. The in-house bar was a great place to unwind without any othersome rowdy people. The staff were more than generous with their assistance and provided excellent customer service each and every time. The grounds people always said a cheery good morning. The whole experience of staying at Resort Rydges was a positive one, the only downfall was the location. Because the resort is located on Federal Government Property, public transport does not come any where close to the resort which means if you do not have a car you need to walk quite a fair distance to catch public transport and it costs quite a bit to hire a taxi to go to the city. So my suggestion is book a vehicle for your stay, as the airport is in short walking distance you can quite easily go over and talk to the people in the car rental kiosks. Or just ask your friendly receptionist and they will take care of all of that for you. Our apartment was a one bedroom with spa bath ensuite and balcony which overlooked the reserve. The apartment was suitably furnished with a 3 seater lounge and two single seats, dining room suite, full foxtel channels and king size bed. Having a background in resort cleaning I can as soon as I enter an apartment I usually can see areas of concern regarding cleanliness. In the case of this resort, I could not find anything to mention and I opened everything and looked under everything. My recommendation is in regards to Star rating I would give this resort a 4.5 if not a 5, I would highly recommend this resort as a place to stay.
